Dynamo Ventures is looking for two Associates to join our firm and make an immediate impact on a small team that’s focused on getting stuff done. This role is ideal for someone who has had two to three years of professional experience and a genuine and intense desire to be a great seed investor. As part of our new two-year program, Associates will get a 360 degree view of seed investing from sourcing, selection, through to stewardship. Exceptional employees will have the opportunity to be promoted overtime with the possibility of joining our Partnership. While we highly encourage candidates to be based in Chattanooga, TN, to gain the most value from our apprentice-style approach to developing seed investors, we are open to remote work provided candidates are willing to spend at least one week per month with either Jon or Santosh either in Chattanooga, TN or on the road.

Key Responsibilities
This role covers three main areas but as a member of a small and agile team, you will be asked to help or be the key person on other tasks and responsibilities as they arise.
Sourcing
- Be responsible for top of funnel activity
- Handle all inbound in a timely fashion
- Conduct outbound to startups, directly on a consistent basis
- Stimulate referrals by building meaningful relationships with VCs
- Take ownership of the Deal Flow newsletter sent primarily to Associates at other firms
- Be proactive in driving brand awareness
- Be responsible for writing and editing the Dynamo Dispatch newsletter
- Find creative ways to build both Dynamo and their personal brand to be the “go to” for supply chain technology investments
- Represent Dynamo at events and conferences
Selection
- Collaborate with Partners to deep dive and diligence a startup
- Fill out Collaborate with Partners to evaluate prospective investments using our framework that we’ve developed
- Coordinate follow up sessions with the founding team and formulate questions based on priority areas with the input of the Partners
- Take thorough notes throughout the entire deep dive and diligence process
- Undertake primary research to develop and communicate opinions on key topic areas that are both of interest to you and relevant to Dynamo’s investment scope
- Have a thoughtful framework to conduct research using the Dynamo network
- Comfortable conducting primary research which may include user interviews, observing live operations, and finding creative research strategies
- Clearly articulate it in an appropriate medium- blog post, slides, etc
Stewardship
- Offer tactical support to founding teams in the portfolio
- Under the guidance of a Partner help founders across a variety of areas including investor relations, board meeting preparation, and sales
- Develop relevant content for the Portfolio Portal
- Build and tap into a network of subject matter experts across the corporate landscape
- Host working sessions with corporates to further understand their needs and enrich the relationship
- Facilitating introductions between startups relevant corporates in the Dynamo network
- Attending industry events to learn and network
Key Requirements
- 2-3 years of professional experience and a Bachelor’s degree is required
- Professional, confident, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented self-starter
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while exercising good judgment
- Excited to spend time finding and building relationships with founders. Equally comfortable building relationships with other VCs as well as corporates
- Advanced skills in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google applications (Gmail, Slides, Docs, Google Drive)
- Familiarity with Notion and Slack is a bonus
- Remote candidates are welcome (option to relocate to Chattanooga, TN)
- Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:
- Conducted robust analysis and had to clearly communicate their views
- Made presentations to/for executive teams
- Written and communicated in a persuasive way
